Thanks Rob....I really don't undserstand a lotof things to get the BBS to operate correctly. Rather than plague you and others with newbee questions I'll back off from having a BBS online. Thanks for your patience and help .

Is sending SMTP email a requirement for "having a BBS online"?

If yes, then consider relaying your outbound mail through Vertrauen (which *does* have a valid SPF DNS record that GMail likes):

To be honest, email on a BBS isnt that great anyhow. Setup FTN and Netmail instead!

Can you paste the error here?

It sounds like you already have a BBS setup. You're just having an issue with Internet email, which is not an absolute requirement for running a BBS. Hardly seems worth paying someone to do for you. We are here to help and will be just as patient and tenacious as you are. But if you give up, we can't help with that.
