Secondly, For some reason I can't my File Bases to see the "FILE_ID.DIZ" and Im stuck having to manually editing the descriptions.. is there an ea way of having these descriptions validated?

Synchronet comes pre-configured to import DIZ's automatically. But, you mus copy PKZIP.EXE and PKUNZIP.EXE into your SBBS\EXEC directory, or they must b in your path. Putting them in SBBS\EXEC is recommended.

Also, refer to the ADDFILES section of the sysop documentation if you've got lot of files ot upload.

Also, you can only import file_id.diz through the BBS, ADDFILES.EXE will not import the file_id.diz from the zip file. You must use the ;UPLOAD or the ;UPLOAD ALL from the transfer menu, when it starts searching, it will display a line for a short description of the file, and when you press enter, it will import the file_id.diz for the extended description. Pistol Grip and myself like to jam something in the enter key to upload files to the database. If you do this and there is no file_id.diz in the zip, or the file is not a ZIP file, then you will have the description as "No description given for this file.", which can be changed in the TEXT.DAT file.

Yes it will (that's what the /Z option is for).

Addfiles does support importing DIZ's, you just have to use the right combination of command line paramters. Refer to the list below.

Also, what I've done in the past is use a program that will scan all files in a dir and extract the diz into a FILES.BBS file. Then you can just use ADDFILES with FILES.BBS. Similar to how you add a CD with FILES.BBS.

Actually, it works here... I use:

    ADDFILES * /ftizsn
