From JIMMY ANDERSON@VERT/OTHETA to ALL on Monday, June 01, 2020 11:29:00

Anyone on here going to any gun shows in the coming months?
I'd love to shake hands (and then sanitize, of course - LOL) if
    you are!

Last one I attended... Hmm... Jackson, TN maybe? And that's been
a few years... Was a few years there that guns weren't a primary
    hobby...

I'm in Tennessee, so will stick to my home state as much as
possible, in case I find a gun I want or my wife wants. :-)
But not against visiting neighboring states. Legally you can
buy a long gun in a neighboring state, if the dealer will
allow it, but I can still buy ammo, shop for parts and
    accessories, etc.

So, that being said, I'm in northwest Tennessee, but Memphis
is not out of the question, but not my first choice either
(no offense to my friends from there - it's just not as
fun as it used to be - same technically goes for Nashville!
Even before the riots it was just a party town) - I've thought
about Clarksville area, but would consider bootheel of Missiouri,
or Northeast Arkansas (Jonesboro, Blytheville, etc.) - maybe
    even north Mississippi or Alabama.

... I DID IT! I invented the unadoptable tagline! Try it. Won't work.

We used to have probably six a year in town, maybe another six or seven within reasonable driving distance. I think the last one I went to was back in late summer 2019. Can't wait for the Covid bullshit to get over with so life can get back to normal. Wife and I both enjoy our gun shows and it's been too many months since the last one...

In Michigan we're still locked down until the 12 unless Whitler plays games again, but when things are normal I'd usually hit the shows in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Elkhart, South Bend, and Crown Point. Shows used to be bigger before the internet becasme commonplace, however there's still some deals out there.

I think I've bought ONE firearm at a gun show... Years ago, when I first started buying plinkers, I decided I wanted a Phoenix Arms .22 and when
the show came to town I offered $100 tax and all CASH to the guy and he
    took it.

Otherwise, we've bought knives, monkey ball keychains, etc. But the
experience of walking around and looking and talking - that's what it's
    all about! :-)

Well I wouldn't turn down a deal, but at the same time I'm looking more

I've bought a few pieces at gun shows. Snagged a Remington 540X in .22LR at a show in Pennsylvania, scored a decent deal on a 91/30 at a show in New York, a few other good deals. I have to admit that my list of "must have" guns has been depleted quite a bit, particularly since my wife managed to get me some 1944 vintage M1s (one Garand, one carbine - because she didn't know which one I really wanted). I'm like you, mostly dig on the knives and accessories at the shows. The guns themselves are usually overpriced at the gun shows, the vendors thinking they'll find a big score. I have a select few that I actually buy from, those are folks I have dealt with in the past and can trust that a) they'll be at the next show in case b) something goes wrong.
